Innovation
Innovation is ingrained in Nijholt’s business culture. We offer creative solutions for simplification of labour and workload reduction. Nijholt has brought a host of innovative products onto the market. These cutting-edge products are produced exclusively in-house. Efficiency and user-friendliness are the core characteristics of our products. Projects such as the Wave Simulator, the Boat Lift, the Streetlight Brush and the Underwater Drill all testify to our status as masters of innovation.
Cleaning Industry – The Streetlight Brush

The self-supporting Streetlight Brush saves time and makes cleaning of streetlamps much easier. In the past, streetlights were cleaned using a high-pressure jet cleaner. Nijholt developed a mobile cherry picker with a water supply, mounted on the back of a lorry. This enables many more streetlights to be cleaned per day compared with the conventional method. The Streetlight Brush can be used for all types of streetlights.
Road Construction – The Underwater Drill

A prime example of Nijholt’s technical and creative ingenuity is the Underwater Drill. Using this device, you can drill holes into sheet-pile walls. The motivating factor behind this invention was an assignment to drill 25,000 holes along a 1.5 kilometre stretch of shoreline in order to anchor the sheet piling. The Underwater Drill functions via a right-angle transmission, allowing it to be powered by an electric motor above the surface.
Water Infrastructure – Wave Simulator

The Wave Simulator was developed to test the strength of the landward side of dikes. Upon commission by the Rijkswaterstaat (The Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management), Nijholt was responsible for the engineering, execution and construction of the simulator. The Wave Simulator created large, breaking waves to replicate the effect of storm tides. The first model has a wave-generating capacity of 14,000 litres of water. Models of the Wave Simulator with wave-generating capacities of 24,000 and 40,000 litres are also available.
Defence Industry – Boat Lift

The principle of a lifting platform is simple, and such platforms can be employed in numerous situations. What sets the Boat Lift apart is its 5 x 5m dimensions. This allows dinghies to be inspected and renovated without the employee being forced to squeeze and stretch him/herself into unmanageable positions. The Boat Lift is a prime example of Nijholt’s expertise in the development of labour-saving devices.
